The Book of Job takes place in the land of Uz, located east and south of Israel. Though the author of Job is un-
known, we can infer through the text that the author is likely Hebrew, due to his extensive knowledge of the He-
brew faith and Scripture. Speculations through the ages have suggested that Moses wrote the book, while others
believe a contemporary of Ezekial penned the tale. Origins aside, the Book of Job is a rumination on a near-eter-
nal quandary for mankind: what is the purpose of innocent suffering? Job’s experiences, questions, doubts, and
prayers are still relevant, and deeply relatable, for us today. We will unpack this idea and more in our study, with
the knowledge that God still speaks through His inspired Word.
